If you have the following signs or symptoms:
Fever 🥵
Cough
Runny nose
Red or watery eyes🥺
Sore throat
Rash starting at the head/hairline (4-5 days after flu-like symptoms began)
📌Do not walk into a clinic, urgent care or emergency department without calling first. It COULD be measles‼️
Measles spreads easily in waiting rooms and other shared spaces because it is an airborne virus, spreading when the infected person talks, coughs, or sneezes. 😫 Measles virus can stay in a room, or on surfaces where an infected person has been for up to 2 hours. 🤳Calling ahead allows health care teams to take steps to protect other patients.
🛑Staff may prepare a separate entrance or room so the virus does not spread to people who may be vulnerable, including babies, 🍼 people with weakened immune systems or pregnant women.👣
Where could I/ we have been exposed? Anywhere. Simply walking into a retail store, 🏨theater, restaurant, ✈️airplane/airport, library, waiting room 🏥 or other public space could result in exposure.
People can also spread measles before they realize they’re sick. Someone with measles is contagious about five days before the rash appears and four days after.
